Grand Rapids High School

Boys Basketball (9-16): Grand Rapids closed out the regular season with wins over Duluth Denfeld, 82-54, Tuesday and Virgina, 69-55, Wednesday. In the win over Denfeld, John Suterhland led the Thunderhawks with 37 points, Stacy Washington had 15 and and Easton Fothergill 11.

Grand Rapids will play in a Section 7AAA quarterfinal game Tuesday.

Girls Basketball (18-8): Grand Rapids,  the No. 1 seed in the Section 7AAA tournament, played No. 4 Cloquet Saturday in the section semifinals.

Wrestling: Grand Rapids’ Connor Wakefield, Kellen Schauer and Brendin Morlan competed at the state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Friday and Saturday.

Boys Swim and Dive: Grand Rapids had five individuals and a relay competing in the state meet which was held Thursday through Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center in Minneapolis.

Greenway High School

Boys Hockey (15-13): Greenway, the No. 3 seed in the Section 7AA tournament, defeated No.1 Hermantown, 3-2, in double overtime Wednesday in the section championship. The Raiders will play a Class A state quarterfinal game Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Boys Basketball (19-5): Greenway picked up wins over Mesabi East, 74-67, Tuesday and Eveleth-Gilbert, 67-27, Thursday to close out the regular season. The Raiders will host a Sub-section 7AA game Tuesday.

Girls Basketball (9-15): Greenway, a No. 8 seed in the Section 7AA tournament, fell to No. 1 Proctor, 57-18, Thursday.

Deer River High School

Boys Basketball (13-12): Deer River was defeated by Bigfork, 72-56, Tuesday. The closed out the regular season hosting North Woods Friday.

Girls Basketball (14-13): Deer River, a No. 4 seed in the Section 7A tournament, defeated No. 13 Hill City/Northland, 55-24. They play No. 12 Littlefork-Big Falls Saturday in Grand Rapids.

Wrestling: Deer River’s Trevor Michienzi and Trey Fairbanks competed at the state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Friday and Saturday.

Bigfork High School

Boys Basketball (12-13): Bigfork picked up wins this week over Deer River, 72-56, Tuesday and Mesabi East, 75-64, Thursday. They closed out the regular season at home against Mountain Iron-Buhl Friday.

Girls Basketball (15-10): Bigfork, a No. 6 seed in the Section 7A tournament, defeated No. 11 North Woods, 58-24, Wednesday. They play No. 3 Cherry Saturday in Grand Rapids.

Hill City High School

Boys Basketball (10-14): Hill City had wins over McGregor, 55-43, Tuesday and South Ridge, 68-67, Thursday to close out the regular season.

Girls Basketball (8-16): Hill City/Northland is a No. 13 seed in the Section 7A tournament, fell to No. 4 Deer River, 55-24, Wednesday.

Northland High School

Boys Basketball (9-15): Northland dropped games to Northome/Kelliher, 93-51, Tuesday and Fond du Lac, 96-75, Thursday to close out the regular season.

Nashwauk-Keewatin High School

Boys Basketball (18-7): Nashwauk-Keewatin topped Fond du Lac, 69-63, Tuesday. They closed out the regular season at Cromwell-Wright Friday.

Wrestling: Nashwauk-Keewatin/Greenway’s Matt Jeska and Kole Platt competed at the state tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Friday and Saturday.

Itasca Community College

Wrestling: ICC competed at the NJCAA national tournament in Council Bluffs, Iowa Friday and Saturday.
