Nov. 29, 2009-The ICC women’s basketball team downed St. Cloud Tech 91-67. K.K. Reed led the Vikings with 20 points while Katie McBride had 19 and Allie Benham added 16.

Dec. 2, 2009-The Rapids boys hockey team opened the season with a 6-1 win over Cloquet. Patrick Moore had three goals and an assist and John Skrbec, Nick Koerbitz and Ryan Dumm each had one.
Dec. 2, 2009-The defending Section 7AAA champion Rapids girls basketball team beat Hermantown 59-58 on a Jessi Corrick basket at the buzzer. Corrick finished with 31 points.
Dec. 2, 2009-The Hill City girls cage team lost to Chisholm 48-27 as Caitlin Crandall scored nine points and Haley McNeil added eight for the Hornets. Chelsea Perkins and Kendra Cappo each scored 12 for Chisholm.
Dec. 2, 2009-The Bigfork girls basketball team opened with a 78-20 victory over Cotton. Megan Powell had 21 points for the Huskies while Adrianna Ivanovic added 17.

Nov. 30, 1994-Kelly Kirwin of Grand Rapids was recently named the 1994 Junior Golf Player of the Year for the state of Minnesota.
Nov. 30, 1994-The Rapids hockey team beat Greenway 5-0 in the Iron Range Conference Jamboree. Aaron Miskovich had the hat trick for the Indians while Jamison VadenEide and Mike Christensen also scored.
Nov. 30, 1994-In girls basketball action, Blackduck beat Bigfork 40-35 in overtime. Amy Wilson had 13 points for the Huskies. Cotton stopped Hill City 56-35 despite 18 points from the Hornets’ Jenny LaSpina. Mt. Iron-Buhl downed Deer River 68-39 as Kari Ott had 11 points for the Warriors.
Dec. 4, 1994-Hibbing defeated the Rapids girls basketball team 53-29. Shyla McKibbon led the Bluejackets with 17 points while Jackie Blair had 14 for the Indians.
Dec. 4, 1994-Tom Soltys, quarterback for the Grand Rapids High School football team, was named to both the Minnesota All-State Football Team and the Minnesota All-Academic Football Team.
Dec. 4, 1994-Staples beat the Indians in the wrestling opener 30-27. Bright spots for Rapids were provided by Dan Herr, Charlie Osborn and Lenny Schaefer.
Dec. 4, 1994-The Rapids and Hibbing hockey teams skated to a 4-4 tie. Mike Perpich had the hat trick for the Bluejackets while Rapids scored two goals in the final 20 seconds by Mike Christensen and Greg Shaffer to tie the game.

Dec. 1, 1969-The Rapids basketball team beat Deer River 77-35 as Paul Miltich scored 13 points and Earl Burnson and Ron Gauthier added 12. Mark Wohlrabe led the Warriors with 13 points.
Dec. 1, 1969-The Rapids hockey team downed Bemidji 4-1. Dave Clafton scored a pair of goals while Pat Downing and Kevin Roth also scored.
Dec. 1, 1969-Dave Stangl of Coleraine made his varsity debut with the U.S. Air Force Academy hockey team.
