GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids held the last race of the season which was the WISSOTA Classic. All drivers that are chasing WISSOTA National Points came to race and racers came from all over.

It was a nice cool night of racing and there was a total of 94 cars that came ready to race. A.J Diemel took the big WISSOTA Late Model win, Johnny Broking took a win in his WISSOTA Modified, Skeeter Estey took home a win in his WISSOTA Midwest Modified, Kevin Burdick took a win in his WISSOTA Super Stock, and Chad Finkbone won in his WISSOTA Pure Stock.

The 24 WISSOTA Modifieds rolled onto the track first to kick off the features for the night. Skyler Smith and Skeeter Estey started out front. Smith took the lead off of the green, and Estey raced high in second. Tyler Kintner challenged Justin Feltus high for third while Marcus Dunbar raced in fifth. Dunbar kept close to Kintner and challenged low for fourth, then quickly raced to Feltus. The first caution flag was then thrown for two spun cars. When the green flag was thrown again, Smith still raced out front, while Estey kept close racing high.

Kintner and Feltus then battled for third side by side and Kintner was able to move up. Estey and Kintner then both challenged Smith for the lead, but another caution flag was thrown for a spun car. Smith still kept out front after the racers grouped back together, and Estey kept tight to Smith. Feltus and Kintner raced for third again while Dunbar challenged them. After a few laps, Estey raced high again on Smith and took the lead. Dunbar raced in third and showed a nose to Smith and Kintner did the same high but a third caution was thrown for a couple cars that spun and ran into each other. Estey kept out front on the last green, Dunbar raced into second, and Smith raced with Kintner for third but Kintner tried to keep Smith behind. Tyler Vernon passed low on Smith for fourth. Kevin Burdick challenged Vernon for fourth and was successful by the time the checkered flags came. Estey took a WISSOTA Classic win and Dunbar, Kintner, Burdick, and Vernon followed in the top five.

Doug Koski and Matt Sparby led the WISSOTA Super Stocks out on the track next. On green, Sparby pulled into the lead, Koski raced in second, but Dave Flynn challenged Koski side by side for second. Shane Sabraski and Kevin Burdick raced for third. Flynn ended up moving into second, and Burdick raced in third but Koski didn’t give up on it and kept close. Sabraski challenged low on Koski, then he tried to challenge high and Kintner raced low on them. Sabraski kept out and Flynn kept close to Sparby and showed his nose when he could and inched out. Burdick also raced close, and he challenged Sparby and wasted no time getting around.

Randy Spacek raced in fifth. Burdick kept close to Flynn and hoped for a mistake to get around. A yellow flag was thrown, when Sparby spun. When the racers grouped back together and went green, Flynn kept out front while Burdick tried to challenge high for it. Sabraski kept behind in third low. Spacek and Duane Keeler battled for fourth but Spacek kept Keeler behind. Burdick challenged Flynn every chance he got until he finally moved around on the last lap before the checkered flag. Burdick took the win, Flynn, Sabraski, Spacek, and Keeler took top five behind him.

The WISSOTA Modifieds then rolled onto the track with Gavin Paul and Ken Hron out front. On green, Paull took the lead and Johnny Broking raced low and moved into second. Bob Broking then challenged Hron for third but a caution was thrown for 4 cars that piled up. When the racers were ready to go, Paull was back out front, and J. Broking kept close behind and raced up to challenge Paull for the lead. B. Broking raced quick in third, then Kelly Estey, then Darrell Nelson raced in fifth. J. Broking got around, Paull quick to take the lead, and B. Broking got close to Paull for a chance to move around as well. B. Broking wasted no time and quickly moved around Paull for second and Sabraski then raced in fourth behind Paull. J. Broking took a fast win with B. Broking, Paull, Sabraski, and Estey behind.

A total of 25 WISSOTA Late Models rolled onto the track for their 40 lap feature with Pat Doar and Darrell Nelson out front. After the racer did their 4-wide tribute for the fans and got lined up, the green flag was thrown. Doar wasted no time to take the lead and Nelson kept behind. Jake Redetzke challenged Nelson low for second but a caution was thrown for spun cars. When the racers got grouped up again, Doar still kept out front of the pack, Nelson and Redetzke raced behind. Nelson pulled into second, while Redetzke and A.J Diemel raced for third but another caution was quickly thrown. After the caution, Doar still kept out front, Nelson raced in second, but Kyle Peterlin challenged low and moved into second. Jesse Glenz raced in fourth.

Redetzke and John Kaanta battled for fifth and Nelson challenged high on Diemel for third but another caution flag was thrown. When the racers got going again, Doar still kept out front, while Diemel challenged Nelson low for second and quickly moved ahead. Peterlin raced in fourth, and Kaanta raced in fifth. Kaanta raced low on Peterlin for a possible pass while Nelson got back around Diemel for second. Kaanta moved around Peterlin when Peterlin got too high. Diemel got back around Nelson foe second and gained ground on Doar and challenged while Chad Mahder raced up into the top five. After a couple laps, Diemel made a quick pass on Doar for the win and Diemel took the checkered flags. Doar, Redetzke, Kaanta, and Mahder took top five wins for the WISSOTA Late Model Show.

The WISSOTA Pure Stocks then rolled onto the track last for the night with Jon Burt and Chris Miller out front. On the green flag, Miller took the lead while Chad Finkbone and Cory Jorgensen raced Burt for second. Finkbone ended up having enough power to pull away but a caution was quickly thrown. After the racers grouped back together, Miller kept out front, but Finkbone challenged low while Jorgensen and Burt raced side by side for third. Finkbone finally got around to race in the lead, and Jorgensen race behind. Another caution was then thrown for the racers. Finkbone still kept out when they grouped back together, Jorgensen kept in second, Burt raced into third, Dylan Shelton, then Josh Berg. Berg challenged Shelton for fourth and quickly got around. Finkbone crossed the checkered flags, Jorgensen, Burt, Berg, and Shelton rounded off the top five.
