GRAND RAPIDS — This week was Grand Rapids’ last night for track points for the season. All every-week drivers came ready to defend their placing for the track. All seven classes were held for a good final track points show for the fans.

It was a very cool night of racing. Skeeter Estey took a win in his WISSOTA Midwest Modified, Snirt Thundercloud won in his WISSOTA Hornet, Lance Solem took a win in his Sprint Car, Tristan LaBarge took a win in his WISSOTA Super Stock, Johnny Broking won in his WISSOTA Modified, Don Shaw won in his WISSOTA Late Model, and Chad Finkbone took a win in his WISSOTA Pure Stock.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds rolled onto the track to kick the features off with Michael Blevins and Darrin Lawler out front. Estey kept close to Kintner and raced side by side for the lead. Eggebraaten and Dylan Miller then raced for third when Miller raced up, but the last caution for the racers were thrown. When the last green flag for the racers were thrown, Estey raced out front of the pack, Blevins and Kintner battled for second, but Kintner pulled out. Feltus raced in fourth and Jeff Foreseen raced in fifth. After the very competitive racing, Estey took the checkered flags with Kintner, Blevins, Feltus, and Foreseen in the top five for the night.

Chris Kassler and Jordan Thayer led the WISSOTA Hornets on the track next. Kassler took the lead right away on the green flag. Thundercloud and Thayer challenged Kassler until a quick caution was thrown for a car. Tyler Kachinske was able to race up and challenge Kassler for second and he also quickly moved around. Michael Egan raced in fourth, and Brennan Schmidt raced in fifth, challenged Kachinske and then split Kassler and Olson raced into the mix. Thundercloud took the win, Kachinske, Schmidt, Egan, and Olson took top five wins.

Non-Winged Sprints were on the track third for the night with Lance Solem and Josh Braford out front. When there were only a few laps to go, Caley Emerson tried his hardest to quickly pass Solem for first but Solem didn’t let him by, and DaRonco also moved into third. Solem took the feature win for the night, Emerson, DaRonco, Braford, and Hughes also followed in the top five.

Eleven WISSOTA Super Stocks then rolled onto the track led by Tristan LaBarge and Austin Niemeyer. LaBarge instantly took the lead and Dalton Carlson raced low in second with Matt Sparby right behind in third and Kevin Salin in fourth. Burdick passed high on Sparby quickly for fourth, then went and challenged Butcher low for third and got around then after a while, raced up to challenge Carlson for second and moved around again. The racers raced clean and very competitive until LaBarge took the checkered flags, Burdick, Carlson, Butcher, and Sparby followed.

The WISSOTA Modifieds then rolled onto the track with Ryan Jensen and Dan Kingsley out front. A caution flag was thrown with two laps to go in the feature. After the drivers got lined up single file, the racers just got started and another yellow flag was thrown again. Even after all the cautions, J. Broking still kept out front, Davey raced high on J. Broking for first, B. Broking, Hron, and Jeffery Wood raced in the top five. Jensen tried to make a pass on Wood by racing low, and B. Broking battled with Davey for second side by side, but B. Broking kept inching away. Another caution flag was thrown, and the racers went three more laps clean with no cautions. J. Broking took the win, B. Broking, Hron, Jensen, and Kingsley took top five wins.

A total of 17 WISSOTA Late Models then drove onto the track with Jeff Provinzino and Terry Lillo out front. Vesel and Massingill raced for second, but Massingill had enough power to move ahead. Wohlers fell back when he was passed and Vesel raced into third, Kyle Peterlin quickly moved into fourth and Wohlers raced in fifth. Shaw took the checkered flags, Massingill, Vesel, Peterlin, and Wohlers rounded off the top five.

The WISSOTA Pure Stocks drove onto the track for the last feature race of the night and for track points. Josh Berg and Austin Carlson were out front.

Jorgensen and Jared Akervik then raced out for third but Akervik had enough power to pull in front of him. Dusty Caspers raced in fifth, while Akervik quickly passed Berg for second. Caspers pulled into the infield when his car started smoking and that resulted in Carlson moving up into fifth. Finkbone took the win, Akervik. Berg, Jorgensen, and Carlson finished out the top five.
