GRAND RAPIDS — It was a very nice cool night of racing at Grand Rapids. 87 cars all came ready to race and they put on a very good show for the fans. There was a lot of competition, especially for the WISSOTA Super Stocks because of the large bounty on Kevin Burdick. This week was Armed Forced Night so anyone who had served or is active in the military got in free with an I.D. Nick Oreskovich took a Feature win in the WISSOTA Super Stock class and also beat Burdick for the bounty money. Hunter McDougall took a Feature Win in the WISSOTA Hornet class, Blake Anderson took a Feature win in the Non-Winged Sprint Car class, Skeeter Estey took another Feature Win in his WISSOTA Midwest Modified, Shane Sabraski took a Feature win in the Wissota Modified class, and Kevin Bamgarner took a win in his WISSOTA Pure Stock for the night.

WISSOTA Super Stocks rolled onto the track first for the night with Matt Sparby and Austin Niemeyer out front. When the green flag dropped, Sparby took the lead, while Kevin Burdick, Nick Oreskovich, and Niemeyer raced for second. Niemeyer pulled out but Oreskovich kept close until he was able to move around. The first caution was then thrown for a spun car. When the racers got back going, Sparby raced out front and Oreskovich kept very close, and Burdick stayed close to Oreskovich. Oreskovich eventually got around Sparby with a clean pass, and Burdick did as well and kept close. Dave Mass raced into third, and Shane Sabraski raced into fourth. Another caution was then thrown for another spun car. Oreskovich raced out front again when the green flag dropped, Mass and Burdick raced behind. Burdick kept close to Mass, Sabraski kept close to Burdick, and Dylan Nelson raced in fifth. When the checkered flag was thrown, Burdick fell back which caused a new fifth position to move up. Oreskovich took the win with Mass, Sabraski, Nelson and Zach Wohlers took top five wins home for the night.

Chris Kassler and Danny Wait then led the WISSOTA Hornets on the track to race. When the green flag was thrown, Kassler pulled out front for a second, but Wait then pulled out front quick. Hunter McDougall, Dayna Marken, and Tiffani Hauta-Sanders raced for second. Wait and Kassler raced for the lead again, but McDougall took advantage of that and raced up and pulled out front. Paul Ripley and Marken raced each other for second but Marken pulled out by racing high. Ripley then raced with Tyler Kachinske for third but Brennan Schmidt raced above the two and stole third, and Ripley raced in fourth with Kachinske behind. Schmidt and Marken raced close to McDougall side by side but Marken still raced in second. Ripley ended up going high, and at the checkered flags Kachinske ended up in fourth and Zach Olson ended up in fifth. McDougall took the win while Marken, Schmidt, Kachinske, and Olson followed behind in the top five.

The Northern Renegades Sprint cars rolled onto the track and had a very exciting and competitive race for fans to watch. Blake Anderson and Paul Schultz led out front and Anderson kept in the lead the whole race. Caley Emerson raced up one spot and finished second, Paul Schultz finished not too far behind him. Nick DaRonco started the race in tenth but moved all the way into fourth. Ryan Johnsen finished in fifth behind DaRonco and moved up one position from where he started in the race. Overall, the Sprint cars had a very clean race and the fans had a blast watching.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds rolled onto the track next with Justin Feltus and Jeff Forseen out front of the pack. When the green flag dropped, Feltus took the lead at first while Skeeter Estey raced high over Forseen for second but a caution was quickly thrown without even finishing a lap. When the racers got back going again, Feltus still kept out front, Estey, Charlie Castle, and Estey raced for second and tried to split around Feltus for the lead. Castle ended up pulling out into second, while Forseen and Michael Blevins raced for third. Blevins raced low around Forseen for third. Estey raced up high on the track and made passes on Castle and Blevins and raced into second. Feltus, Estey, Castle, Skyler Smith, and Dean Eggebraaten raced in the top five.

After a couple laps, Estey decided to make a move on Feltus and raced high again to take the lead. Smith challenged Castle for third side by side and Castle quickly moved around, Smith stuck close behind and so did Eggebraaten. Another caution was thrown which brought the pack back together. When the green flag dropped for the third time, Estey raced out front, Feltus raced in second, Smith raced out into third, Castle raced in fourth, and Mark Kangas raced in fifth. Smith showed his nose to Feltus in the corners and ended up passing around with two laps to go. Estey took the checkered flags, Smith, Feltus, Castle, and Eggebraaten raced behind in the top five.

12 Wissota Midwest Modifieds were on the track second to last for the night. Scott Engholm and Paul Schultz led out front. When the green flag dropped, Schultz took the lead and Dan Kingsley quickly raced up behind. Johnny Broking challenged Aaron Holtan low for fourth while Shane Sabraski challenged Schultz low for the lead and quickly passed around. Broking raced into third, Holtan in fourth. Broking passed low on Schultz for second, while Kingsley and Danny Vang raced for fifth side by side. Vang after a few laps, ended up racing into third when Holtan fell back, Schultz and Kingsley raced in fourth and fifth. After a very clean and competitive race, Sabraski took the win, Broking, Vang, Schultz, and Kingsley rounded out the top five.

Dawson Kimble and Chris Miller led the WISSOTA Pure Stocks onto the track last for the night. When the green flag was thrown Kimble and Miller raced out for first until Kimble was able to pull out. Kevin Baumgerner raced low to challenge Kimble for the lead but a caution flag was quickly thrown with not even one lap complete. Kimble and Miller were back out front when the pack went back together, and Kimble took the lead right away. Cory Jorgensen raced into second and battled with Miller until another caution flag was thrown for a spun car. Miller and Kimble were back out front racing for the lead, while Baumgarner and Chad Finkbone raced up top and tried to take the lead from Kimble. A third caution was then thrown for two cars that spun. Kimble raced back out front, Miller and Finkbone raced for second. Michael Roth also raced close to Finkbone. Finkbone and Roth ended up racing side by side for second Baumgarner raced in fourth close. Roth pulled out into second and Bamgarner followed in third. Baumgarner challenged Roth low for second and shoed his nose until he got by and was able to challenge Kimble for the lead and stole it. Finkbone and Roth raced side by side for third and Kimble also raced in the mix. Baumgarner still led, Roth raced into second, Finkbone raced in third, Miller raced in fourth, and Kimble raced in fifth until the last caution flag for the night was thrown. When the racers grouped back together to finish out the race, Baumgarner led, and Finkbone and Roth raced for second but Roth kept in second. Miller raced into third and Finkbone raced closely behind. Baumgarner took the win, Roth, Miller, Finkbone and right at the flag stand Jon Burt rounded out the top five for the night.
