HIBBING — The young Grand Rapids High School girls swimming and diving team proved it is going to be a force to reckon with as it won the Hibbing Swimming and Diving Invite Saturday.

Grand Rapids scored 492.5 points to tip second place Mesabi East which had 451. Hibbing was a distant third with 336.

Taking first place for Grand Rapids were the 200-yard medley relay consisting of Alyssa Jackson, Hannah Rauzi, Rowan Krueger-Barth and Sophia Verke in 1:56.90; the 200-yard freestyle relay comprised of Elsa Viren, Chloe Petersen, Rauzi and Krueger-Barth in 1:45.73;

Placing second for Grand Rapids were Mackenzie Mustar in diving (321.10 points); Elsa Viren in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.28); Sophia Verke in the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.94) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:49.52); Rowan Krueger-Barth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.31); Alyssa Jackson in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.60); and the 400-yard freestyle relay made up of Verke, Jackson, Chloe Petersen and Viren (3:53.42).

Coming in third for the Thunderhawks were Mackenzie Hebeisen in diving (318.25 points); and Hannah Rauzi in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.04).

Recording fourth place finishes for Grand Rapids were Chloe Petersen in the 200-yard individual medley (2:29.81); Rowan Krueger-Barth in the 50-yard freestyle (25.95 seconds);

Finishing fifth for the Thunderhawks were Alyssa Jackson in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.33); Elsa Viren in the 100-yard freestyle (58.47 seconds); and Chloe Petersen in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.02).

Placing sixth for the Thunderhawks were Hannah Rauzi in the 50-yard freestyle (26.93 seconds); the 200-yard freestyle relay made up of Rose Hansen, Liisa Wyland, Kira Johnson and Selah Smith (1:52.96); and the 400-yard freestyle relay comprised of Wyland, Johnson, Ada Jackson and Smith (4:14.27.

Coming in seventh for Grand Rapids was Jordyn Colter in the 100-yard backstroke (1:10.72).

Finishing eighth for the Thunderhawks were Kira Johnson in the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.98); Rose Hansen in the 50-yard freestyle (27.08 seconds);
