GRAND RAPIDS — Following are playoff scenarios for area high school football teams:
The Grand Rapids High School football team – the No. 3 seed – will open section play on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. against Rocori, the No. 2 seed, at Rocori High School.
In the other semifinal game, No. 1 seed Detroit Lakes will play the winner of the Willmar/Little Falls game.
The championship game is slated for Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. at Alexandrian High School.
Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin (GNK) received the No. 3 seed and will play host to No. 6 Virginia on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Coleraine.
In another quarterfinal game, No. 4 seed Two Harbors plays No. 5 seed Proctor.
In the semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 26, the winner of the GNK/Virginia game will play No. 2 seed Aitkin at 10 a.m. at Aitkin. In the other semifinal game, No. 1 seed Esko will face the winner of the Two Harbors/Proctor game.
The championship game is slated for Thursday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. at Malosky Stadium on the University of Minnesota-Duluth campus.
In the quarterfinals, No. 1 seed Deer River will play host to Chisholm on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. Other games will have No. 4 seed North Woods playing No. 5 seed Carlton, No. 3 seed Hinckley-Finlayson will take on No. 6 seed East Central, and No. 2 seed Braham will meet No. 7 seed Barnum.
Semifinals will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at a site to be determined while the championship game is set for Friday, No. 1, at 7:15 p.m. at the Esko Sports Complex.
9-Man Section 5
No. 4 seed Hill City/Northland will play host to No. 5 seed Cromwell on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. In the other quarterfinal game, No. 3 seed Isle entertains No. 6 seed Floodwood.
The semifinals are Saturday, Oct. 26, with the winner of the HCN/Cromwell game playing No. 1 seed South Ridge at 10 a.m. at South Ridge and McGregor playing host to either Isle or Floodwood.
The championship game is slated for 4:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, at the Esko Sports Complex.
9-Man Section 7
In quarterfinal play, No. 4 Bigfork will play host to Cook County at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Grand Rapids. In other games, Ely will play Cherry and Silver Bay takes on Northeast Range.
In semifinal play, the winner of the Bigfork/Cook County game will play No. 1 seed Mt. Iron-Buhl on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. in Mt. Iron. The winners of the Cherry/Ely and Silver Bay/Northeastern Range games will play in the other semifinal game.
The championship game is set for Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. at Mesabi East High School.
