COLERAINE — The host Greenway High School volleyball team won the John “J.P.” Peterson Invitational Tournament which was conducted in Coleraine last week.

Greenway compiled a perfect 4-0 record in the tournament to come away with top honors. In pool play, the Raiders defeated Northeast Range 2-0, 25-8, 25-22, and they downed Warroad 2-0, 25-9, 25-13.

In reseeded pool play, Greenway downed Ely 2-0, 25-23, 25-20, and it topped Cherry 2-0. 25-15. 25-15.

Cherry and Mesabi East each had 3-1 records in the tournament while Ely and Hill City finished at 2-2. Warroad and International Falls finished with 1-3 marks and Northeast Range was 0-4.

In pool play, Hill City lost to Cherry 2-0, 25-18, 25-17, and it defeated International Falls 2-0, 26-24, 25-16.

In reseeded pool play, Hill City downed Warroad 2-1, 25-12, 13-25. 15-6 and lost to Mesabi East 2-0, 25-13, 25-22.

Eveleth-Gilbert 3

DULUTH — The Golden Bears picked a pair of wins in doubles and another in singles, but it wasn’t quite enough as Duluth Marshall netted a 4-3 victory.

In doubles, it was McKenna Edstrom and Anna Beaudette at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over the Hilltoppers’ Elyse Orn and Alexandra D’alliard. at No. 2, Julia Lindseth and Hanna Beldo teamed up to down Meagan Morehouse and Hanna Widdes, 6-2, 7-5.

Eveleth-Gilbert’s lone singles victory came at No. 1, where Lydia Delich swept past Brenna Bollins, 6-0, 6-0.

The Golden Bears host Crosby-Ironton at 4 p.m. today.

Deer RIver 2

COOK ­— At Cook, North Woods had an up-and-down outing Monday against Deer River, but ended on a high note to down the Warriors, 3-2 (25-13, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-6).

Olivia Udovich led the way for the Grizzlies with 17 set assists, while Coley Olson put down 18 kills and added three ace serves. Karlyn Pierce recorded four kills and three blocks, while Abbi Shuster had four kills and three blocks.

Deer River was led by Grace Bergland with 18 set assists and three kills, Taylor Peck with seven kills and two blocks, and Olexa O’Hern with seven kills, two blocks and two aces. Kyleigh Gullickson chipped in with six set assists and Nevaeh Evans had three kills.
