GRAND RAPIDS — The Grand Rapids High School girls soccer team split a pair of matches in recent action.

The Thunderhawks defeated North Branch on Tuesday but then fell to Two Harbors by a 2-1 margin on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Thunderhawks came out on top of North Branch in a game conducted in Grand Rapids.

Freshman Natalee Bushman continued her torrid scoring pace on the season for Grand Rapids as she scored all three Thunderhawk goals in the first half to propel her team to a 3-0 lead.

North Branch scored the lone two goals of the second half but it wasn’t enough as Grand Rapids held on for the victory.

Kenzie Cole was outstanding in the nets for Grand Rapids as she had 15 saves in the match.

Two Harbors tipped Grand Rapids 2-1 in a match played Thursday at Two Harbors.

After a scoreless first half, the Agates outscored Grand Rapids 2-1 to pull out the victory.

Ellie Tillma scored the lone Grand Rapids goal on a feed from teammate Jessika Lofstrom.

Save totals were not available but Grand Rapids coach Brooke Moses said goalkeeper Kenzie Cole came up big many times for the Thunderhawks.

Grand Rapids is next in action on Sept. 3, when it plays host to Mesabi East in a 5 p.m. match at Noble Hall Field.
