GRAND RAPIDS — Grand Rapids Speedway held a regular night of racing but with the Northern Renegade Sprint Cars instead of WISSOTA Late Models, which will come next week. At intermission kids of various ages got to compete in bike races for a trophy with some WISSOTA driver’s interaction and help. Chad Finkbone was able to take the checkered flags in his WISSOTA Pure Stock, in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds Justin Jones was able to catch a win, Kevin Burdick took a win in his WISSOTA Super Stock, Bob Broking was able to get a win in his WISSOTA Modified, Ken Hron in his Northern Renegade Sprint Car took a win, and Chaston Finkbone won in his WISSOTA Hornet.

The WISSOTA Pure Stocks started the night of features out first this week. When the green flag dropped, Samuel Blevins was able to take the lead over Jake Smith. Michael Roth quickly raced up and raced side by side with him after the first lap for the lead. Smith kept in third, Austin Carlson started in seventh and was able to race into fourth but Chad Finkbone who started eighth moved up and challenged Carlson for fourth. Finkbone was successful and raced around S. Blevins, Carlson and Smith very quick with no problem and moved into second and inched up to Roth. A caution flag was thrown for a spun car so the racers had to group back together. Roth lined up out front while Finkbone raced low on Roth on the green flag.  Carlson kept close in third, while Josh Berg and S. Blevins battled for fourth. Towards the end of their race, Finkbone was able to get a pass on Roth to steal the win in the WISSOTA Pure Stock feature for the night.

Travis Krumrei and Mervin Castle led the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds on the track next. On the green flag, Charlie Castle quickly raced up and battled with Krumrei for the lead, and wasted no time getting around. A caution flag was then thrown for a few spun cars.

When the racers grouped back together, and got going again, another caution flag was thrown right away. When they finally got going for a few laps, M. Castle took the lead while Darrin Lawler and C. Castle battled for second but C. Castle got slightly too high on the track and fell back so Lawler raced in second, Justin Jones raced in third but another caution flag was thrown. M. Castle, Lawler, Jones, C. Castle, and Tyler Kintner lined up in the top five for the green flag. M. Castle wasted no time for the lead and kept out, while Jones and Lawler battled for second. Michael Blevins raced up and battled with Kintner for fourth. Lawler inched closer to M. Castle for the lead and was able to complete a low pass in corner one to take the lead.

Blevins raced low on Jones and M. Castle for a chance at second. M. Castle went into the infield for the rest of the race which moved Jones into second, Blevins in third, Kintner in fourth and C. Castle in fifth. Towards the end of the race with about two laps left, Jones challenged Lawler high for the lead and was able to sneak by.

The WISSOTA Super Stocks rolled onto the track after, and had some great racing. They only had one caution flag for the night and very fast racing. Robert Lore and Dalton Carlson were on the poll positions on the start. Lore quickly took the lead but the caution flag was thrown right away. When the drivers got going again, Carlson was able to get in front of Lore for the lead, but Tristan LaBarge raced up from fifth and raced low looking to steal the lead. Kevin Burdick was able to race from seventh into third, Nicholas Jacobson raced into fourth and Jordan Grimm raced in fifth. Burdick was able to start challenging high on Carlson and LaBarge for the lead and did not give up until he was able to move around in corner four of the track. Carlson and LaBarge then raced for second side by side each took turns with the position. Carlson was able to steal it at the end though, and placed second.

Josh Beaulieu and Jeff Tardy led the WISSOTA Modifieds onto the track next for the night. When the green flag was thrown, Bob Broking raced a high line on Beaulieu and was able to steal the lead. Tardy followed in second. A caution flag halted the race because of a spun car. When the drivers got going again, B. Broking kept out front Tardy raced in second, Beaulieu raced in third until Johnny Broking snuck up and challenged both Tardy and Beaulieu for the second spot to follow B. Broking. Another caution flag was thrown for a spun car. B. Broking still kept out front though, with J. Broking close behind. Tardy kept in third Beaulieu kept in fourth while Ryan Jensen and Michael Procopio battled for fifth. Two caution flags were thrown back-to-back. So, when they were able to get going again, B. Broking was able to keep in the lead with J. Broking right behind. Beaulieu now moved up into third.

The Northern Renegade Sprint Cars were pushed onto the track for their feature for the night next. Chris Lewis and Jake Barsness were out on the poll positions. KC Hawkinson and Teal Arnason lined up right behind. Lewis was able to take the initial lead on green, Ken Hron raced high to challenge him for the lead. Hawkinson and Barsness battled for third, while Hron and Lewis race in first and second. Arnason was able to race up into third quickly Josh Braford went up right behind him in fourth. Hawkinson then raced in fifth. Braford looked for a high pass on Lewis for second and was successful. A caution flag was then thrown for a spun car. Hron, Lewis, Jori Hughes, Johnson, and Barsness lined up single file in the top five. Johnson was able to quickly move around Lewis for second and Hawkinson moved back into fifth after a pass on Barsness.
