GRAND RAPIDS — The Itasca Community College football team remained unbeaten on the young season as it won in impressive fashion Saturday over North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) by a 47-11 score.
The Vikings scored two touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to take a 28-8 lead at halftime and they cruised in the second half to take the victory. ICC amassed 479 yards in the game.
Brandon Hokkanen passed for 309 yards and four touchdowns for Itasca as he was lethal for the Vikings through the air. The 309 yards is the highest MCAC single-game total this season. His longest throw of the day went for 75 yards. For his efforts, he was named the MCAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week.
Joshua Booker picked up 126 yards on the ground with one touchdown. Antwan Downs had a huge game in the receiving department as he latched onto five passes for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Others scoring touchdowns for Itasca were Taylen Gavin with two, and Jakari Brooks and Demarco Bradley with one each.
Cameron Strapp, Tavian Edwards, Noah Gregg and Waylon Washington stood out on the defensive side of the ball for Itasca, now 3-0 for the season. Itasca will be at Fond du Lac for a 7 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 14.
