It’s Saturday night and silence never sounded so good. As I’m writing this, the kids have been sleeping for two hours, it’s also daylight savings time tonight so you darn well know they will be up an hour earlier tomorrow.

However, I’m taking the time to pamper myself, because in a world where I’m constantly hearing “mom Aiden is bothering me” or “mum-mum” because he wants to be fed or needs something, it’s hard to find a minute to myself.

So I’ve made a cup of warm lemon water and honey (what am I thinking, this should really be a glass of wine), have a facial mask on, am soaking my feet to get rid of built up callouses (thank you mom) and am soon going to binge watch “Hart of Dixie” on Netflix. I know, I know, sounds SO exciting.

But really, it’s heavenly.

Heavens sake, our oldest still sleeps between us some nights, and to get a shower in? Sometimes it’s just easier to put a hat on, versus trying to feel angle two kids swimming at your feet.

Thank goodness the cold and hat weather is here to stay.

These days, where my kids need my assistance for almost everything they do, I’m also realizing it’s equally important to do something for myself.

Likewise, as many moms out there should to.

I’ll be honest, lately, I don’t feel like I can be a good mom or even give my kids the patience they need from me, if I don’t give myself at least 30 minutes a day.

Whether it’s staying up a little later to watch a half hour of some smut on TV, taking a warm bubble bath with a lemon sugar scrub, doing some retail shopping, getting my lash extensions filled, scrolling Facebook or Instagram or having a much needed catch-up phone call to a friend or my sisters, it’s all needed gals.

All very much needed.

As for the other moms out there, I’m sure you feel the overwhelming struggle of the daily grind, day after day.

Do yourself a favor and take a few minutes, each day, for yourself.

I would like to share with you a few of my homemade beauty recipes. I’m not a naturalist by any means, and I give all the credit in the world to those who are, I just like experimenting with everyday household products and ideas that I also find on Pinterest.

Warm Lemon and Honey Water

(Mix and enjoy!)

8 oz very warm water

2 Tablespoons lemon juice

1 Tablespoon honey

Lemon Sugar Scrub

(Mix all ingredients together and store in a sealed container)

2 cups cane sugar

½ cup coconut oil

2 Tablespoons coconut extract

40 drops lemon essential oils

1-2 drops yellow food coloring (not necessary)

Peelings from two grated lemons

Foot Soak

(Mix all ingredients together in a shallow bowl and soak feet for 10 minutes. For best results, buff away built up callouses)

2 cups very warm water

1 cup vinegar

1 cup Listerine

3 Tablespoons honey
