It’s finally here! Summer! School’s out. Stop in the library to get some great summer reads. Check out what’s coming up at the library.
The annual Grand Rapids Area Library Book Sale is coming up this August during Tall Timber Days. Has your spring cleaning unearthed some gently-used books, DVDs, games, or puzzles you no longer need? Donate them to the big sale now through Aug. 1 – simply drop them off in the donation bin inside the Library’s Used Book Store. All proceeds benefit special library projects and programs.

Monday, June 10, Summer Book Time!
At 10 a.m., it’s time for Summer Monday Book Time! Join Tracy in the Story Circle for stories, songs, rhymes, scarves, shakers, and flannel board fun. Then move to the Community Room for a snack and a craft.
Tuesday, June 11, Lego Club
At 10:30 a.m., it’s time for Lego Club! Are you a kid who likes to build? Join us for our next Lego Club. Lego Club is open to everybody, and Lego creations are displayed in the Children’s Library between programs. We supply the Legos, you supply the imagination.
Wednesday, June 12, 4:30 p.m., Storybook Theater
Calling all Theater Kids! In coordination with our Summer Reading theme, “It’s Showtime at Your Library,” the incomparable Katie Smith will host three theater workshops at your Grand Rapids Area Library this summer. Come and learn how to develop a show, and be ready to perform when it’s pick-up time. Open to all area kids ages six and up. Space is limited, and registration is required. Registration for each workshop will open two weeks before the program date. Call 218-327-8823.
Thursday June 13, 6 p.m., Brodini Comedy Magic Show
Back by wildly popular demand, the Brodini Comedy Magic Show offers fun and exciting magic tricks that are so cool you won't believe your eyes! Magician Graylyn Morris will raise spirits and test kids' powers of concentration as he manipulates ropes, scarves, balls, and other magician props in a perplexing "now you see it, now you don't" performance. Family-friendly program for all ages. This performance will take place in the KAXE/Rotary tent, so bring your blanket or chairs.
Saturday, June 15, Saturday Story Time!
At 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., it’s time for Saturday Story Time! Join ECFE teachers in the Story Circle for books and songs, then move to the Community Room for a snack, a craft, and a time to play and visit. Families may earn one Baby Steps coupon for attending this Story Time.
Saturday, June 22, 9 a.m., Summer Yoga on the Lawn with Deirdre Murnane
Outside (will move indoors in case of rain). Need to relax before the busy weekend begins? Join this breath-centered, gentle, meditative yoga class. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel and a water bottle.
