Patricia Mae (Bullock) Grimsbo

Patricia Mae (Bullock) Grimsbo, age 91, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at The Emeralds Assisted Living.

Patricia Mae (Bullock) Grimsbo was born in 1928 to Madison and Edith (Tracy) Bullock in Grand Rapids, MN. She had two younger brothers, Madison Harmon and Marvin Dean. The three children attended grade school at Forest Lake. In her teens Pat was an active member of Job’s Daughters and Girl Scouts. She played clarinet in the Grand Rapids High School marching band and was on the bowling team. In her free time Pat loved babysitting, ice skating and playing piano.

After graduation in 1946 she was employed at the Grand Rapids Herald Review where she prepared want ads for the printing department and was secretary to L.A. Rossman, the owner of the newspaper.

In November 1948 Pat left the Herald Review to marry Peter Bendick Grimsbo. They moved to his farm north of Palisade where they lived for the next six years. During this time their three children, Sherryl Lynn, Gwenneth Lee, and Bradley Peter were born.

In 1954 the family moved to their home on the Mississippi River, just west of Grand Rapids. In the mid-1970s, Pat was elected Clerk of Bass Brook Township. At the same time, she and Peter enjoyed running a small gift shop in their home featuring imports from Mexico. Pat and Pete were charter members of the Sons of Norway and in 1990 Pat was asked to lead the Scandinavian Singers. She directed the musical group for fifteen years. Pat was active in Zion LCW, taught Sunday School, and never missed a Lutefisk dinner. She was a member of the GR Women’s Club and sold Tupperware in her spare time. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and Rosemaling.

Pat and Pete were avid dancers all their lives until arthritis slowed them down. Peter passed away peacefully in 2016, promising to wait for Pat at the Pearly Gates. In the early hours of August 9, 2019 Pat slipped away to join him there...
