Larry Russell Brion

Larry Russell Brion unexpectedly passed away on March 19, 2020 at the age of 66, in his home in Grand Rapids, MN.

He was born in Oakland, CA on May 2, 1953, to the late Richard and Bobbie Brion. He is survived by his spouse, Mary Jo Brion; his four daughters, Jamie (Andy) Lemieux, Melissa (Shannon) Roberts, Bobbi (JP Ashton) Soule, and Kerry (Tony) DeBuono; his two sons, Jeff (Jill) Brion and Gene Soule; his brother, Ron (Kathy) Brion; eight grandchildren, Madison, Gracyn & Hadley Brion, Braden & Jorey Lemieux, Giana & My Roberts, and Layn Soule; and by his beloved pets, Peanut, Kirby & Remy.

Larry moved to MN in 1978 and started working at UPM Blandin. After many years of working indoors on the production lines, he was able to obtain his dream position outside in the yard working on the cranes which is where he worked until he retired 7 years ago.

Larry loved to travel, loved sports and loved to cook but above all, he loved his family. Known as his granddaughters’ #1 fan, he rarely missed a basketball game and was always there to encourage his own children during their various activities over the years.

Larry spent much of his time helping others, spending many hours volunteering for ElderCircle and for the VA, and countless hours helping the people he cared about.

Described by many as one of the kindest men they have ever known, he was a wonderful, selfless person who will be greatly missed.
