Kay Cleveland

Kay Cleveland, age 80, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

Kay was born in 1939 to William and Helen (Ranger) Kangas in Grand Rapids, MN. Kay graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1957. She lived on the family homestead in Trout Lake Township for over 30 years before marrying Edwin “LeRoy” Cleveland on July 1, 1971 in Hibbing, MN. With LeRoy as pilot, Kay was a co-pilot for E&K Gravel for over 20 years. Kay also worked for and later retired from Dairyland Electric after 25 years

Kay was a proud cancer survivor since 1993 and a sponsorship chair for the “Daffodil Days” for the American Cancer Society. Kay was a member of Bethel Trinity Church in Bovey, MN and the Women of the Moose #1378. She loved to snowmobile, camp with family and friends, and make lefse for her family for the holidays. Kay was a second mom to many and will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenny Cleveland; son-in-law, Jack Anderson; brothers, Dale and Ronald Kangas; brother-in-law, Bill Wagner; and niece, Tammi Kangas.

Kay is survived by her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Cathy Anderson of Brainerd, MN; son, James Turner of Minneapolis, MN; daughter-in-law, Susan Cleveland of Twin Cities, MN; sisters, Barbara Wagner of Grand Rapids, MN, Judy (Jim) Anderson of Bovey, MN; grandchildren, Rachel (Mike) Borgschatz of Stanley, ND, Terann Anderson of Reeve, WI, Jon Anderson of Aurora, CO, Kayla Cleveland of Twin Cities, MN; great grandchildren, Dillon Benck of Minot, ND, Maraya Anderson of Reeve, WI, Tyler Hollern of North Pole, AK, Trever Hollern of Reeve, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Bethel Trinity Lutheran Church, Bovey, MN followed by the 11:00 AM Memorial Service. Rev. Mark Wagner will officiate.
