Honora A. German, age 86, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at her home at River Grand Assisted Living.
Honora was born in 1932 to Edward and Mary Goellen in Manchester, IA. Honora graduated from Cogswell High School, Cogswell, ND in 1950 as the valedictorian of her class. Honora earned her business degree at Wahpeton School of Science, Wahpeton, ND. Honora and James German were united in marriage on March 12, 1955. In 1956 they moved to Grand Rapids, MN. There she raised her family and was employed as a tax preparer for H&R Block for over 30 years.
Her loving family was very important to her and Honora loved attending and supporting her grandchildren in their many endeavors. Honora and James loved to travel and go camping. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, and volunteering at the food shelf. Honora was member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since 1956.
Our family would like to thank the River Grand staff for their excellent care of our mother and for treating her with dignity and respect.
Preceded in death by her parents; and husband, James in March 2019. Honora is survived by her three daughters, Susan (Al) Vann, Nancy (Randy) Zupan, Margie Leonhard; son, Bill (Claire) German; sister, Carol (Joe) Timmins; brother, Fr. Richard Goellen; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 4 nephews.
