Herbert L. Washburn, age 76, of Grand Rapids, MN died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.
Herb was born in 1942 to William and Margaret Washburn in Grand Rapids, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 until 1966 and then in the U.S. Naval Reserves until 1968. Herb and Linda Bishop were united in marriage on June 29, 1968 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, MN. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at National Steel in Keewatin for 33 years. Herb was a NASCAR fan and he enjoyed watching Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski. He especially loved being with family.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell Washburn; and sister, Sissy Washburn.
Herb is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda; daughters, Gina King and Brenda Ash; grandchildren, Nathan, Naesa, and Leland King; brothers, Charles (Shirley) Washburn; special son-in-law, Darrin King; and many loving family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Harris Town Hall, Grand Rapids, MN, beginning with full military honors at 1:00 PM.
