Henry “Hank” D. Hesse

Henry “Hank” D. Hesse, age 83, of Jacobson, MN passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 in Cody, Wyoming.

Hank was born in 1935 to Henry and Hazel Hesse in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in St Paul and graduated from Washington High School in 1953, upon graduation he attended the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in forestry. Hank was united in marriage to Norma Koecher on March 11, 1961 at Oak Lake Lutheran Church in Duquette, Minnesota. In 1974, Hank and Norma moved their family to Jacobson, Minnesota. Hank was passionate about forestry; he would even go up to Alaska during the summers to help fight forest fires. Hank was employed with the Department of Natural Resources throughout the state of Minnesota until he retired.

Hank was a member of the Jacobson Fire Department and the Carmel Lutheran Church Council. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved to spend time with his family and friends, spent many hours in his park of 40 acres, loved to feed the deer and the birds, and when he wasn’t doing any of those, he could be found at Sammy’s eating pizza.

Hank is preceded in death by his parents, Henry F. and Hazel Hesse; wife, Norma; grandson, Dustin Graves.

He is survived by a daughter, Sue (Mike) Schwebke of Deer River; sons, David (Jackie) of Aitkin, MN, Tom (Julie) of Jacobson, MN, and Mike (Shelly) of Prior Lake, Minnesota; sisters, Beverly Sorensen of Cottage Grove, MN, Ruth (Jim) Syvertsen of LaPorte, MN, Grace (Richard) Boyd, of Jacobson, MN, and Carol (William) Horwath, of Jacobson, MN; five grandchildren, Amanda, Kenny, Melissa, Tyler, and Andrew, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MN and will continue at the church on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service at Carmel Lutheran Church, Ball Bluff Township near Jacobson, MN. Rev. Mark Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in Ball Bluff Cemetery, Ball Bluff Township, Minnesota.
