Erin Rae Schnabel

Erin Rae Schnabel, age 34, of Chaska, MN passed away peacefully on August 10, 2019 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Erin was born to Paul and Vicki Maurer in 1985 in Cloquet, MN. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 2003. Erin went on to attend Minnesota State Mankato graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology in 2007. From there, she began her career in health care as a certified EMT before working into the medical field as a Health Unit Coordinator.

Erin was a talented musician who loved to share her gift through song and note. She loved her time with Bands of America and as a SWAG leader had a great influence on many young people. Whether writing songs on the piano, singing backup for the band Home Free or sharing her gift with her son Everett, Erin’s love for music impacted many people.

Erin loved her sisters Mistyn and Gretchen. She was the best at picking sides during sibling squabbles, loved watching fireworks and going to concerts with Gretchen and always had the best beautiful shrieking laugh.

Erin loved her son Everett. They spent their time together outside and were never far from where a boy’s boy needs to be, a playground or park. She shared her love for the outdoors with Everett and those experiences will last a lifetime.

Erin’s heart was kind and full of love and she shared that love without limits. Her friendships spanned near and far and she made her precious time with friends and family matter. Her sweet smile could brighten the dimmest of days. Erin cared deeply for the people and puppies in her life but her love was not limited to the people in her immediate circle. Even the poor cow in Jurassic Park received heartfelt tears, even though she argued with her sisters to the contrary.

In true Erin fashion, she always said goodbye to her family in the words of Lloyd Christmas, “Goodbye, my LOVE!!!”

Erin was preceded by her maternal grandparents, Myron and Colleen Henderson; and paternal grandfather, Bernard Maurer.

Erin is survived by her son, Everett Schnabel of Lester Prairie, MN; former spouse, Chris Schnabel of Lester Prairie, MN; parents, Paul and Vicki Maurer; paternal grandmother, Helen Maurer of Little Falls, MN; two sisters, Mistyn (Rob) Haig of Knoxville, TN and their children, Jacob and Isaac Haig; and Gretchen (Tim) Craig of Eagan, MN and their children, Indiana and Oliver Craig; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, and her beloved dog, JoJo.
