Ellyn Marlene Kohut, age 40, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Ellyn was born in 1978 to Michael and Loretta Kohut in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from Osseo High School in 1997, where she was a member of the volleyball team and played the cello in the orchestra. She continued her education by pursuing a career as a dental hygienist at St. Cloud State University. Ellyn has lived in Grand Rapids for the past 15 years and was well known and loved within the community. Ellyn worked for Dr. Jess as a dental hygienist, where her warm personality brought joy to her patients and co-workers. She was active in organizing Tall Timber Days and enjoyed racing events including WSA Snocross.
Ellyn was a caring person who was always there with a laugh and a story, to listen to someone with a problem, or to help a friend in need. She was happiest at her family home on Moose Lake near Hayward, WI. There she felt close to the memories of her late father and her beloved Grandmother Yolanda “Goldie” Kohut. Ellyn enjoyed fishing, hunting, and four wheeling, but will be remembered for her infectious humor, sunny smile, and the love she exuded to all.
She is preceded in death by her father; Michael; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Ellyn is survived by her mother, Loretta Kohut of Maple Grove, MN; sister, Joyce (Teel Jensen) Kohut of Dickinson, ND; her friends, Don Duell and his son, Jameson Duell of Grand Rapids, MN; and Kim Breiwick of Bigfork, MN; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
