Delores “Tudy” Motschenbacher

Delores “Tudy” Motschenbacher, age 98, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Grand Rapids, MN.

Tudy was born in 1921 to Floyd and Emily Madson in Grand Rapids, MN. Tudy graduated from Grand Rapids High School and was united in marriage to DeLyle R. Motschenbacher. They owned and operated the Rainbow Inn for many years where they always made people feel welcome from helping newlyweds have beautiful wedding receptions to giving school kids the opportunity to swim in the indoor pool at the hotel. Tudy was a member of the Jephthah Chapter No. 176, Order of Eastern Star of Grand Rapids, MN where she served as Worthy Matron numerous times and the Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Minnesota where she served as Grand Worthy Matron. Also, she was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, active with the Judy Garland Museum and in the Grand Rapids community and served on the board for the Masonic Cancer Center and the Itasca Community College Foundation. She enjoyed fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins. She loved watching any hockey game and especially her nephew’s play during their high school years. Tudy and her husband, DeLyle, were instrumental in buying the first Zambonis for Grand Rapids and Greenway Hockey Arenas and sponsored many hockey teams over the years.

Tudy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, DeLyle; sisters, Betty Felosi, Floy Johnson; brother, Donald Madson; and nephew, Donny Madson. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 12 Noon in Community Presbyterian Church, Grand Rapids, MN followed by the 1:00 P.M. Memorial Service and an Order of Eastern Star Service. Lay Pastor Mary Shideler will officiate. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
