Tioga Beach and parking lot turned out to be a great place to view this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show. Cohasset Security Officer Dean Scherf stated that Tioga Beach was packed for the fireworks on the fourth at Tuesday night’s Cohasset City Council meeting, and added, "It's actually been really busy at the beach and no issues; hopefully it will remain that way."
In other business:
Cohasset Fire Chief Davin Tinquist asked to hire Kevin Ott as a full-time firefighter, Brady Randolph as a trainee for the next 12 months as he has to still take his EMR training and release Stanton South from the department. This was approved by council.
According to the agenda, Ott has successfully completed all his training requirements, and Tinquist stated at the meeting that he came to the department with his EMS.
Cohasset Mayor Greg Hagy stated he would like to see Tinquist sit down with City of Cohasset Finance Director Max Peters and figure out a rescue plan for the Tioga Bike Trail.
The council approved the three-year contract with Independent School District 318 for the rental of Portage Park Fields.
The council approved the temporary liquor license for Grand Rapids and Itasca Mountain Bicycling Association (GRIMBA) for a fundraiser at Tioga Beach on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019.
The council approved claims in the amount of $329,084.58 and the June 25, 2019 city council minutes.
Councilor Tim Carlson was absent with notice. There was no resident input.
