Sunday, Sept. 1
At 2:38 a.m., deputies responded to a welfare check on Madonna Drive in Bovey which resulted in a warrant arrest.
Deputies responded to South Crystal Springs Road in Grand Rapids to take a report of a motor bike gone missing sometime between Aug. 28-29. Bike is a 2001-2002 model Kawasaki KX 250 with Pro Taper handlebars, Pro Circuit exhaust and no stickers. Value is $1,500-2,000. Case is under investigation.
At 3:45 p.m., deputies issued a search warrant at a home on Second Street in Deer River and a cell phone was seized to be downloaded.
Monday, Sept. 2
At 11:02 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an ATV accident with injuries on Forest Road in Bovey. One vehicle was involved.
At 7:55 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Buck Road in Deer River which resulted in the arrest of two individuals.
Tuesday, Sept. 3
At 10:03 a.m., deputies took a report of some missing items taken from a boathouse on Pine Landing Drive in Grand Rapids. Missing items include a fishing rod, tackle box and a Lowrance fish finder last seen three weeks ago.
At 12:27 p.m., deputies received a report of graffiti found on a track hoe at the county gravel pit. Blue spray paint was found on the rear and side of the hoe. Black spray paint was also used. Suspect painted rocks and a gate on the property as well.
Wednesday, Sept. 4
At 8:51 a.m., deputies received a report of a theft on County Road 347 in Bigfork. Taken were duck decoys and a trolling motor from a rural cabin.
At 10:54 a.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle prowler behind a business on Pokegama Avenue south in Grand Rapids. Suspect was a white male about 5’9” tall with shoulder length dark brown hair wearing a light grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
At 2:59 p.m., officers received a complaint that a truck and sedan had been tearing up driveways near SW 18th Street in Grand Rapids.
At 4:11 p.m., officers received a report of an assault at an apartment building on Highway 169 East in Grand Rapids.
At 5:03 p.m., deputies responded to First Avenue NE in Grand Rapids and arrested an adult female for an outstanding warrant.
At 7:31 p.m., deputies responded to a vehicle pursuit on Mile Lake Road in Deer River. Driver was taken into custody.
At 9:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault that took place in a van near the high school football field in Grand Rapids. Incident involved two juveniles involved in an altercation which escalated into both being stabbed by a pencil or a pen.
At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a large wood fire on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids. A resident was burning wooden cabinets and the fire had grown larger than the allowed three foot by three foot radius. Resident was warned he could be cited for future violations.
Thursday, Sept. 5
At 12:49 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 54 in Nashwauk which led to the arrest of two adult males.
Stop arm violation:
At 7:57 a.m., officers were dispatched to a school bus stop arm violation on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids. First vehicle was traveling westbound and described as a darker color full-size pick-up truck. The second vehicle also was a darker color, full-size pick-up. Children were on the ground at the time of the violations.
At 11:27 a.m., officers received a report of a stolen generator out of a work truck parked at a hotel on SE 17th Street in Grand Rapids. Generator is described as a Honda EU2200i with value over $1,000 (serial number is EAMT-1228041).
Hit and run:
At 1:12 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle damaged while parked at an establishment on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. Damage was on the passenger rear above the tire.
At 2:04 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on SE Second Avenue and 29th Street SE in Grand Rapids. Vehicle one was facing north on Second Avenue stopped at a stop sign and observed vehicle two approaching the intersection. Under the impression that the intersection was a four-way stop, the driver of vehicle one pulled out and proceeded northbound and collided with vehicle two. Both vehicles sustained damage. No injuries were reported.
Stop arm violation:
At 4:33 p.m., a school bus driver reported a stop arm violation on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids.
At 10:37 p.m., officers responded to a male party sleeping in the laundromat on Itasca Street in Grand Rapids. Male party was placed under arrest for an active warrant. Found in his possession was merchandise stolen from a local store valued at $109.98.
Friday, Sept. 6
At 11:58 a.m., officers received a report of a fraudulent bad check complaint. Reporting party stated she was approached by a friend about cashing a check from her boyfriend as the friend did not have a checking account. The check was written out to another person and totaled $3,734.35. Upon deposit, the reporting party said she immediately withdrew $1,000 cash and then proceeded to purchase about $300 in merchandise at a local store. Later, the reporting party was told the check was no good and her account had been frozen.
At 3:42 p.m., officers responded to a report of shoplifting at a convenience store on NE Fourth Street in Grand Rapids. Reporting party said suspect placed a sandwich and bag of chips inside her coat and exited with a fountain pop in hand without paying. Value of the theft is estimated at $10.
At 6:37 p.m., on SE 10th Street in Grand Rapids, a resident requested that officers clean a yard littered with glass from the window of a vehicle which shattered during a officer-involved pursuit and felony arrest. Officers advised the reporting party that the insurance company will not pay out when the driver was committing a felony crime at the time. Reporting party was advised to clean up the scene further if desired and then present an estimate bill to the police for submittal for restitution on the criminal file.
Saturday, Sept. 7
At 1:46 p.m., officers received a report of a vehicle struck while parked in the Central Square Mall parking lot in Grand Rapids. Damage was very light.
At 10:29 p.m., officers responded to North Pokegama Avenue in Grand Rapids for a report of assault. Reporting party stated he was jumped by another male and punched in the jaw.
Sunday, Sept. 8
At 9:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to First Avenue SW in Grand Rapids for the report of a missing person. According to dispatch, missing person was thought to be sleeping in the woods. After locating the individual sleeping in woods nearby, officers determined she had two active warrants. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Itasca County Jail.
At 7:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of SW Third Avenue for a structure fire at a residence reported to be engulfed in flames. It appeared the fire had started in the garage. Flames were coming out of the garage doors and spreading up the exterior wall toward the roof area. It was reported that all people were out of the house but two cats were inside. Officers made contact with two children who lived in the house. They stated they were upstairs in their rooms when the fire started and were able to get out after the house began filling with smoke. The children were met by their mother at the intersection as she came to the scene from work.
