TUESDAY, FEB. 4

Theft:

At 2:46 p.m., officers responded to a store on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids for a report of attempted theft by an employee.

Theft:

Deputies took a report of theft of at least three big screen televisions and two couches from a home on Wendigo Park Road in Grand Rapids.

Traffic:

At 7:13 p.m., an officer observed a motorist holding his cell phone while driving on Pokegama Avenue North in Grand Rapids. Driver was cited for use of a wireless communication device while driving.

At 7:24 p.m., an officer observed a motorist using his cell phone while driving on Pokegama Avenue North in Grand Rapids. Driver was cited for use of a wireless communication device while driving.

Fire:

At 7:50 p.m., deputies responded to a structure fire at a shed attached to a camper on U.S. Highway 2 in Deer River. The shed was a total loss. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

Fatal accident:

At 9:10 p.m., deputies assisted the State Patrol with an accident involving a fatality on Highway 46 in Northome.

Wednesday, Feb. 5

Assault:

At 7:12 a.m., officer responded to a report of an assault on Second Avenue NE in Grand Rapids. Victim reported she was punched in the chest and was transported by Meds-1 Ambulance to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.

Theft:

At 10:54 a.m., an officer took a report of theft from a vehicle parked at the IRA Civic Center the previous evening.

Hit and run:

At 12:13 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a hit and run at a parking lot on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. Suspect vehicle was a black SUV with an orange license plate.

Disorderly conduct:

At 1:05 p.m., an officer responded to a verbally abusive student at Grand Rapids High School. The student was making lewd and profane comments toward the teacher.

Domestic:

At 6:49 p.m., an officer responded to an apartment complex on NE Fifth Street in Grand Rapids for a possible domestic.

Suspicious person:

At 7:18 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a salon on NW Fourth Street in Grand Rapids. The reporting party said a male had come into the salon and entered the bathroom where he remained for 30 minutes. The male suspect said his vehicle was at a local auto repair shop and he was staying at a motel on the westend of town.

Ambulance:

At 10:49 p.m., officers responded to a report that a black SUV left the roadway on NE Fourth Street in Grand Rapids with an unresponsive female at the wheel. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle up on the sidewalk pinned against the main entrance of a business. The vehicle sustained severe front end damage and the driver was found slumped over and unresponsive but breathing.

Thursday, Feb. 6

Accident:

At 8:13 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of a hotel on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. One vehicle backed into another.

Theft:

At 6:40 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a grocery store on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids for a report of theft. Suspect was caught attempting to walk out of the store with $17.94 in groceries.

Friday, Feb. 7

Suspicious person:

At 12:28 a.m., an officer traveling northbound on SE Seventh Avenue in Grand Rapids observed an adult male stumbling within the lane of traffic. Upon approaching the man, he stated “you got me” and placed his hands in the air. The officer administered a breath test and escorted the man to detox. After arriving at detox the man fled on foot and the officer pursued him and again escorted the passively aggressive man back to detox.

Theft:

At 6:17 a.m., officers responded to a theft report at a store on 29th Street SE in Grand Rapids.

Accident:

At 8:21 a.m., an officer responded to an accident at a gas station on NE Fourth Street in Grand Rapids. Damage to both cars was minor and no injuries were reported.

Fraud:

At 10:10 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a home on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids where a person said he was contacted by the Minneapolis Police Department to make a donation. After making a $20 donation over the phone with his bank debit card, the victim said his bank account was missing $2,000-3,000.

Theft:

At 3:05 p.m., an officer took a report of a stolen ipad from a vehicle parked at a fast food restaurant on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids.

Accident:

At 5:03 p.m., an officer responded to an accident at the intersection of Pokegama Avenue North and Third Street NE in Grand Rapids. Damage to both vehicles was minor and no injuries were reported.

Accident:

At 5:17 p.m., deputies responded to a rollover on Scenic Highway 7 in Bigfork.

Accident:

At 6:53 p.m., an officer responded to the intersection of NW Third Avenue and NW Sixth Street in Grand Rapids for an accident. One driver was cited for failing to yield right of way. Damage to the vehicles was minor and no injuries were reported.

Hit and run:

At 6:59 p.m., an officer took a hit and run complaint from a parking lot on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. A suspect vehicle attempted to pull into a tight parking space and made contact with a parked vehicle. The suspect vehicle then pulled out and parked in another space.

Saturday, Feb. 8

Burglary:

At 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a burglary at the Pepsi Warehouse in Grand Rapids. Suspect was located inside the business and arrested.

Motor vehicle in ditch:

At 3:17 a.m., deputies discovered a motor vehicle in the ditch on Scenic Highway 7 in Bovey. Driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

Hit and run:

At 7:08 p.m., an officer responded to the Myles Reif Center parking lot for a report of a hit and run.
