Monday, Nov. 25
At 7:58 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a possible warrant at an address on Highway 38 in Grand Rapids. Male suspect was successfully located and arrested.
At 10:18 a.m., a small zipper camo make-up style bag was turned into the GRPD. The bag was found on the Mesabi Trail approximately one mile from the Itasca County Fairgrounds. It contained a broken syringe, a glass meth pipe, an empty ziplock baggie with appeared to be meth residue in it, a rubber tourniquet and other garbage. Bag was soaked and moldy. It was destroyed.
A Grand Rapids resident reported being the target of Platform Solutions Manage, out of Texas. The resident paid $300 from a credit card then sent a check for $500. When advised, the resident cancelled the check and changed account numbers. After police attempted to call the phone numbers provided, it became apparent that it was a scam.
Hit and run:
At 11:15 a.m., an officer responded to a parking lot at a store on Pokegama Avenue South for a hit and run. Reporting party said she entered the store at 11 a.m. and when she returned to her car, she found another vehicle had side-swiped the driver side of her vehicle causing damage to the front driver’s door and the front and middle of the rear driver’s side passenger door. Video footage of the parking lot was to be reviewed.
At 7:44 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Seventh Avenue NW in Grand Rapids for a report that there was a male there with a gun outside the residence threatening to “shoot the house up.”
At 8:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the roundabout on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids. One vehicle was traveling northbound on Lakewood Avenue, entered the roundabout to go westbound and was struck in the rear passenger side of the vehicle by another vehicle that was unable to stop due to icy roads. Minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries reported.
Tuesday, Nov. 26
At 10:17 a.m., deputies made a warrant arrest on NE First Avenue in Grand Rapids.
At 11:52 p.m., deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 35 in Deer River which resulted in a warrant arrest.
Wednesday, Nov. 27
At 12:06 a.m., officers responded to an apartment on NE Third Avenue in Grand Rapids for a report of a domestic. Reporting party stated a very intoxicated female was trying to beat her daughter.
At 1:07 a.m., an officer responded to a restaurant on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids for a report of a light pole for the business was knocked.
At 9:37 a.m., the GRPD received a report of fast food and a silver toy being stolen from an unlocked vehicle at a restaurant on Pokegama Avenue South. After notice was posted to the GRPD Facebook page, another individual reported similar food items were stolen from their vehicle while parked unlocked at the same location.
At 10:14 a.m., an officer responded to a two-vehicle crash on North Pokegama Avenue in Grand Rapids. Vehicle one was pulling out of a bank parking lot and struck the passenger side of a truck traveling southbound. Light damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.
At 3:38 p.m., officers responded to a report of a crash on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. Upon arrival, officer observed two vehicles parked on the east shoulder of Pokegama Avenue and several people standing in the ditch on the west side of the road by the retaining pond where a SUV was partially submerged six feet from the edge of the pond. A female in the drivers seat was able to get the window rolled down and indicated she was not hurt but that water was seeping into the vehicle. GRFD was able to get the female out of the vehicle and transported by Meds-1 ambulance. It was later determined that the SUV had hit a slippery spot and made a U turn across the road into the ditch and pond.
Thursday, Nov. 28
At 12:14 p.m., an officer responded to a crash in the parking lot of a convenience store on SE Seventh Avenue in Grand Rapids. Minor damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported.
At 6:43 p.m., officers responded to Grand Itasca Hospital to assist in restraining a very belligerent female patient who attempted to hit and kick officers before she was handcuffed and later placed into a restraint bed.
At 10:16 p.m., an officer received a report of a traffic accident that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids, when a vehicle was stopped at an intersection for the traffic light and was rear-ended by another vehicle. No injuries were reported.
At 10:19 p.m., deputies responded to Wendigo Road in Grand Rapids for a report of a physical domestic situation. After conducting an investigation, an adult male was taken into custody for fifth-degree domestic assault.
Friday, Nov. 29
At 2:14 a.m., deputies made a controlled substance arrest at a casino on Highway 2 in Deer River.
At 9:42 a.m., an officer responded to a nursing home facility on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids for a report of a dog at large in the parking lot that had reportedly bitten multiple victims. On scene, the officer located a German Shepherd walking around the parking lot and was able to get the dog into the squad car without incident.
At 10:24 a.m., an officer was dispatched to South Pokegama Avenue in Grand Rapids in regards to a two-vehicle accident without injuries. According to both drivers, one vehicle was backing out when it struck the other vehicle. Minor damage to both vehicles.
Saturday, Nov. 30
At 2:03 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle make a right hand turn onto NW Third Avenue from NW Fourth Street in Grand Rapids without using a turn signal. After conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver presented a license that was voided. The driver was cited for driving after revocation.
At 1:20 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a stolen enclosed trailer containing stolen power tools in the yard of a residence on Jackson Street in Cohasset.
At 4:12 p.m., an officer was deployed to assist a sheriff’s deputy in an accident at NW Fourth Street and NW 14th Avenue in Grand Rapids. The driver of the vehicle had went off the roadway and struck a power pole causing major damage to the vehicle. Public Utilities was contacted to inspect the pole to ensure it was safe. Vehicle was towed from the scene.
At 8:04 p.m., an officer responded to a bank parking lot on South Pokegama Avenue in Grand Rapids for a two-vehicle crash. Minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries were reported.
At 8:31 p.m., deputies responded to Ball Club Lake Drive in Deer River for an assault involving a knife.
At 10:29 p.m., an officer was dispatched to NE Seventh Street in Grand Rapids regarding a domestic between a father and son.
Sunday, Dec. 1
Hit and run:
At 2:05 p.m., an officer responded to Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids for a report of a hit and run. Damaged vehicle was hit on the front passenger side. Also, the front bumper was broken off.
At approximately 3:35 a.m., an officer responded to SE Fourth Avenue in Grand Rapids for a report of a two-vehicle crash. Reporting party backed into a vehicle while exiting his driveway. Damage to the vehicle was minimal.
At 8:35 a.m., an officer responded to NW Third Street and Pokegama Avenue in Grand Rapids for a report of a two-vehicle crash. One vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of the other vehicle as it slid through the intersection. Minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries were reported.
At 2:04 p.m., an officer responded to a call reporting an assault that occurred the previous day at Blandin Beach in Grand Rapids. Reporting party said her son went to pick up a friend when an unknown male got into the passenger seat and started to assault him. Four other males then entered the vehicle as well and stole around $500 and an ID, bank card and medical card. Victim went to the ER with a fractured nasal bone along with a black and blue face. There are suspects in the case which is under investigation.
At 10:04 p.m., officers were dispatched to a motel on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. Reporting party showed officers bruises on her left lower arm and wrist.
