At 10:27 a.m., a domestic argument was reported at a residence on Fifth Avenue NE in Grand Rapids.

Shoplifting:

At 11:50 a.m., a report of shoplifting was reported at a business on Fourth Street NE in Grand Rapids. An individual was allegedly seen taking candy and other items. A suspect was identified.

Blight:

At 12:01 p.m., an officer talked with residents on the Ricer Road in Grand Rapids in reference to a large amount of trash in the yard. The yard must be cleaned by May 25.

Blight:

At 12:35 p.m., an officer talked with residents on 11th Avenue SE in Grand Rapids in reference to garbage in a yard. The yard must be cleaned by May 20.

Scam:

At 4:33 p.m., a resident on 12 Avenue SE in Grand Rapids reported a scam. A thief identified himself with Publisher’s Clearing House and tried to scam the resident. The case is under investigation.

Domestic assault:

At 6:18 p.m., a report of a male choking and hitting a female in a vehicle parked at a business on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids was received. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance, being both physically and emotionally upset. There is a suspect in the case.

Domestic assault:

At 7:16 p.m., a report of a domestic assault was reported at a residence on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids. The case is under investigation.

TUESDAY, MAY 12

Threats:

At 7:03 a.m., a resident on Eighth Avenue NE in Grand Rapids reported receiving threats. The case is under investigation.

Blight:

At 8:13 a.m., a landlord was advised of a blight violation at a residence on 10th Avenue NE in Grand Rapids. The property must be cleaned by May 18.

Found property:

At 9:40 a.m., a Minnesota identification card and a Betty Boop debit card were left at the front window of the Itasca County Sheriff’s Department office.

Property damage:

At 11:35 a.m., a report of property damage and items moved around in a warehouse located on County Road 61 in rural Grand Rapids. No damage estimate was given and the case is under investigation.

At 1:57 p.m., a resident on Fifth Avenue NE in Grand Rapids was informed of a blight violation. The resident agreed to clean the mess by May 20.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 13

Suspicious person:

At 8:59 a.m., a report of a suspicious person was reported from Diane Lane in Grand Rapids. A suspect was identified who is on active felony probation and who admitted to using drugs. He is to report to his probation officer.

Blight:

At 9:41 a.m., an individual was contacted in reference to a blight violation at a residence on Isleview Road in Grand Rapids. The occupant has until May 25, to clean the property.

Accident:

At 2:54 p.m., a two-vehicle accident was reported in the parking lot of a business on Golf Course Road in Grand Rapids. Damage was minor and there were no injuries.

Traffic:

At 3:01 p.m., an officer witnessed a vehicle being driven recklessly on the River Road in Grand Rapids. The vehicle was stopped and the driver stated he was in the process of taking a passenger – who declined an ambulance – to the hospital. The driver will be mailed a citation.

Welfare check:

At 9:42 p.m., an officer was dispatched to check on the health of an individual on Seventh Street SE in Grand Rapids. The individual indicated she would like an ambulance and she was transported for medical assistance.

THURSDAY, MAY 14

Theft:

At 8:18 a.m., a letter was reported missing from the Grand Rapids High School electrified and lighted sign affixed to the front of the school. Value is about $600 with reinstallation. The case is under investigation.

Warrant:

At 4:12 p.m., a male was arrested on an outstanding warrant from St. Louis County at a motel in Grand Rapids.

Accident:

At 9:26 p.m., a report that a vehicle hit a tree on 14th Street NE in Grand Rapids was reported. It appears there was a brake problem with the vehicle. There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed.

FRIDAY, MAY 15

Runaways:

At 9:39 a.m., a report of two juvenile males living at a group home on 20th Street NW in Grand Rapids had run away from the facility. The two were located near the Central Square Mall in Grand Rapids and returned to the home.

Drug complaint:

At 12:08 p.m., a report of possible drugs was found on Third Street NE in Grand Rapids. An empty plastic container contained a pan body with marijuana residence on it. The items were disposed of.

Fraud:

At 12:22 p.m., a possible fraud case was reported from a bank on Fourth Avenue NW in Grand Rapids. An individual from Deer River apparently had two checks valued at more than $14,000 deposited in his account, and then he withdrew $11,985. Investigation showed that the individual apparently was scammed with money sent to a New Jersey address. The case is under investigation.

Domestic/damage to property:

At 1:14 p.m., officers responded to a report of a domestic assault on Peterson Road in Grand Rapids. A suspect apparently damaged a vehicle in the incident. No more information was available.

Runaway:

At 5 p.m., a report of a runaway male from a group home on 20th Street NW in Grand Rapids was reported. No more information was available.

SATURDAY, MAY 16

Welfare check:

At 5:59 a.m., a report of a agitated male who was not making sense was received from a business on Fourth Street NW in Grand Rapids. A suspect who appeared to be impaired was identified and received a trespass notice to stay away from the business.

Accident:

At 12:42 p.m., a two-vehicle accident was reported in the parking lot of a business on 29th Street SE in Grand Rapids. There were no injuries.

Runaways:

At 3 p.m., it was reported that two runaways from a juvenile home on 20th Street NW in Grand Rapids were located near Grand Rapids High School and returned to the home.

Domestic:

At 7:49 p.m., a report of a domestic assault in progress was reported from a parking lot on 29th Street SE in Grand Rapids. It was found that the incident was a domestic argument with no physical contact.

Disturbance:
