Monday, March 16
At 8:05 a.m., a deputy responded to a two-vehicle accident with no reported injuries on Highway 169 near the Scenic Highway intersection.
At 1:37 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a burglary that occurred over the weekend at an abandoned church on NE Sixth Avenue in Grand Rapids. Lock box on exterior door was pried open and door was found to be unlocked. Case is under investigation.
At 1:41 p.m., a deputy responded to a group home on Pleasant Street in LaPrairie for a reported assault that took place the day before between two juvenile males. Suspect was issued a citation.
At 4:53 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on NW Fourth Street in Grand Rapids. Damage was minimal and no injuries were reported.
At 4:54 p.m, deputies took a report from a male in Blackduck who believed he is in a relationship with a female party stationed in Nigeria with the U.S. military and was asked to send her money. He has not sent any yet and was told not to.
Tuesday, March 17
At 8 a.m., deputies responded to Silverwood Avenue in Marble for a report of a domestic situation. Party was arrested for trespassing.
At 8:39 a.m., an officer was traveling on North Pokegama Avenue in Grand Rapids and observed what appeared to be a motor vehicle accident. It was found that one vehicle rear ended another. Damage was minimal to both vehicles and no injuries were reported.
Motor vehicle in ditch:
At 12:52 p.m., deputies responded to a motor vehicle in the ditch on Scenic Highway and County Road 52 in Bigfork. Female driver was subsequently arrested for suspected Driving Under the Influence.
At 3:31 p.m., an investigator responded to a call from the Itasca County Fairgrounds for a report that some vehicles were spinning around in circles in the parking lot and one got stuck in the snowbank. Grounds manager approached the individuals who proceeded to berate him. Individuals were asked to leave the property.
Motor vehicle fire:
At 6:21 p.m., deputies and Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to Mishawaka Road for a report of a vehicle on fire. Driver had left the scene. Vehicle was towed.
Wednesday, March 18
At 7:05 a.m., deputies responded to an accident on NW First Street in Cohasset. The minor crash led to the arrest of an adult male for false name and date of birth, out of state warrant and local warrants.
Gas drive off:
At 9:26 a.m., an officer took a report of a gas drive off that occurred the night before. Suspect vehicle was a white Cadillac Deville sedan. Registered owner was from Maplewood. Video showed a female passenger get out of the vehicle, pump $28.05 worth of gas, lay the pump handle on the ground, jump back into the car which then took off without paying.
Hit and run:
At 10:51 a.m., deputies responded to a hit and run on Columbus Avenue in Cohasset.
At 11:24 a.m., deputies responded to a missing mailbox on County Road 539 in Nashwauk. Upon investigation it was noted several others in the neighborhood were bent over or damaged. Appears the mailboxes were ripped off the board and one was ripped from a pole.
At 2:55 p.m., an officer responded to a store on SE 29th Street in Grand Rapids for a report of attempted theft. A store employee found a female to have skipped scanning several items. Value of the stolen items was $58.29.
At 5:21 p.m., officers responded to a report that a resident of a group home on Seventh Street NW in Grand Rapids was threatening staff and throwing things around the house. Resident calmed down and was ready to apologize for his actions when the officer arrived.
At 7:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to a domestic argument on SE First Avenue in Grand Rapids. Nothing physical was reported.
At 7:17 p.m., an officer responded to a store on SE 29th Street in Grand Rapids for a report of attempted shoplifting. Suspect was a juvenile female who appeared to attempt to walk out the grocery doors with a cart of merchandise. Store employees observed the young female was with adults and they appeared to be encouraging the female to leave the store with the merchandise.
At 11:26 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic disturbance between two family members at a residence on River Road in Cohasset. After an investigation, a party was taken into custody for a misdemeanor level, fifth degree domestic assault.
Thursday, March 19
AT 3:17 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a driving complaint on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids. Reporting party said there was a black hatchback with Florida license plates doing donuts in the movie theater parking lot. The officer made contact with the vehicle and driver who stated he was in town working on a store remodel and had watched another vehicle sliding around in the fresh snow. Because he had never seen snow before, he wanted to give it a try. The officer did not observe any damage created to anything.
At 5:51 p.m., an officer responded to a grocery store on Pokegama Avenue South in Grand Rapids for a report of attempted theft. Suspect was apprehended and admitted to attempting to steal there cans of Monster energy coffee drinks valued at $8.
Friday, March 20
At 12:53 p.m., an investigator responded to a shoplifting call at a gas station on NE Fourth Street in Grand Rapids. Suspect was apprehended and admitted to stealing ice cream and candy from the store.
At 9:24 p.m., deputies responded to County Road 63 in Cohasset for a motor vehicle crash. Vehicle had taken out a sign and left car parts all over. Vehicle left the scene and drove toward town. Subject was located and arrested. Vehicle was towed.
Saturday, March 21
At 11:18 a.m., an officer responded to a store on SE 29th Street in Grand Rapids for a report of attempted theft. Suspect had filled a cart full of merchandise and attempted to leave the business with no intention of paying for the items.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
At 2:22 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Splithand Road in Grand Rapids for a report of a motor vehicle theft which resulted in three arrests for second degree burglary, theft of motor vehicles and criminal damage to property.
At 6:15 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an assault of a juvenile on County Road 9 in Deer River.
At 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a domestic incident on River Road in Grand Rapids. Female party sustained a bump to the head but refused medical attention. Male party had left the residence before law enforcement arrived.
At 10:14 p.m., deputies responded to East Bowstring River Road in Deer River for a fight. An adult male was cut with a knife.
Sunday, March 22
At 1:01 a.m., an officer was traveling on County Road 63 in Cohasset and saw three juveniles on bikes. When approached, the three males got off their bikes and hid in the ditch. Upon contact, the males stated that their parents did not know they were out and that they were supposed to be home. Contact was made with the parents and the juveniles were instructed to ride home.
At 2:17 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of an assault on Pleasant Street in Grand Rapids resulting in an arrest and juvenile transported to Itasca Juvenile Center to be placed on a hold.
At 7:41 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a shoplifter at a grocery store on NW Fourth Street in Grand Rapids. Prevention employee advised that a female shopper concealed a roast under her purse and attempted to leave the store without paying for it. Value of the roast was $14.19.
Gas drive off:
At 8:47 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a gas drive off at a gas station on State Highway 65 in Penally.
