Hill City honors long-time resident and Vietnam veteran

Veteran Bert Kortekaas Sr. was honored with an emergency vehicle procession and community sendoff Sunday, Oct. 9 in Hill City. Kortekaas will be going on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. The mission of Honor Flight is to celebrate America’s veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials. According to The Cozy Cove Coffee Company of Hill City, Kortekaas is a 93-year-old longtime community member and a Vietnam War Veteran. Police and fire departments participated in the sendoff along with the Hill City American Legion Color Guard. Lange’s Landscaping and Nursery provided flags for the event.
