Dreams Come True Dance (DCT) will host its 9th annual Dance for Dinners Show at Greenway Auditorium to showcase some of the routines they will bring to competition this season. The show will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m., at the Greenway Auditorium. Admission is free. Cash donations or non-perishable food donations should be given in place of purchasing a ticket. All proceeds will be donated to the Grand Rapids Food Shelf.
According to Kayla Shorma, owner of Dreams Come True Dance, students began learning the choreography for the routines performed at the show, over the summer months. They work with their choreographer in one on one lessons. The dancers in this performance range in age from 5-18 years. This performance will consist of 45 solo, duet and trio routines. These routines will be in many different dance forms such as ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, hip hop and acrobatics.
This event generates several hundred pounds of food and dollars for local families in need.
In 2020, DCT’s Competition Team which consists of 79 dancers, will complete at three regional competitions in Duluth and Grand Forks. They will also have a number of routines qualify for nationals. These teams will also work along the recreational program for our yearly Spring Show. This upcoming season will be their 11th Annual Spring Show featuring all of the more than 225 dancers at Dreams Come True.
“For the dancers at DCT this is more than just more stage time,” said Shorma. “This is a chance to help give back to their community using their athleticism and passion for the arts.”
