Horses and sleighs will be featured at the Blackberry Winter Funfest, Saturday, Feb. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by the North Star Draft Horse Association and hosted by the North Central Minnesota Farm and Antique Association, this family centered event offers horse drawn sleigh rides, activities for children and fun for all.
According to Mike Hanson, president of the draft horse association, there will be several breeds of horses featured that day. “Members are bringing Belgians, Percherons, Haflingers and Fjords. This year we have added the Jean Bergerson Memorial Sleigh and Cutter Rally to the event,” Hanson said. “Light horse teamsters have been invited to bring their sleighs and cutters for a little friendly competition and a parade.”
The North Star Draft Horse Association is a non-profit educational organization promoting the safe and responsible use of draft animals.
