Walking for the Fallen

Sgt. Chuck Lewis, United States Marine Corps and U.S. Navy Reserve veteran, of Montana, walked through Cohasset to Grand Rapids Tuesday afternoon as part of his cross-country walk to raise attention of the “Cost of Freedom” our soldiers have paid their country as well as to raise funds for wounded and disabled veteran programs. Lewis began his journey in Washington state on March 31 and expects to complete the 3,300-mile walk in September in Washington D.C. (see www.walkingforthefallen.com). So far, Sgt. Lewis has raised $17,000 of his $50,000 goal. He will reach his half-way point this week in Floodwood. Traveling along Highway 2, Sgt. Lewis met Grand Rapids American Legion Post 60 Commander John Selander (left) and brothers Justin and Ryan Kerr, of Cohasset, who have been following the veteran’s journey on facebook and wanted to meet him when he passed through town.
