About 60 percent of the product moving through the Port of Duluth-Superior is iron ore from the Iron Range mines — between 1.3 and 1.5 million tons headed to the nation’s steel mills.

The industry and economy are liked through mining, but they come with another attraction for the city of Duluth and its heralded Canal Park.

Each year, ships, lakers and ore boats attract thousands of onlookers catching the vessels sailing through the iconic Duluth lift bridge from all over the world.
