Itasca Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) will hold a special event and entrepreneurial discussion featuring keynote speaker David Ollila from 100K Ideas on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Timberlake Lodge. The event is free and open to the public and will be of interest to area entrepreneurs, small business owners, inventors and students.
“We are thrilled to welcome David Ollila to Itasca County,” explained Tamara Lowney, IEDC President. “He believes the powerful minds of individuals are shaping the future and will be an inspiration to the creators, innovators and entrepreneurs with ideas for making our community stronger.”
Ollila is President of 100K Ideas, based in Flint, MI, a non-profit on a mission to help passionate innovators to create products/services and startups of their own through mentorship. They work across sectors and industries to meet true citizen needs while transforming each of the latter, finding true gold in the grey spaces.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurial Opportunities event will also feature Andrew Hanegmon of the Iron Range Makerspace, a co-working innovation center in Hibbing, MN. This collaborative space houses everything a creative mind needs to succeed including a metal working bay, automotive lift, hand tools, wood shop, textile area, recording studio, resource library, commercial kitchen and more.
“Ideas begin with a spark of inspiration, and they grow with support and resources from a like-minded community. Innovators and Entrepreneurial Opportunities will bring that community together,” continued Lowney.
IEDC is hosting the free event. RSVP by contacting Teri Heikkila, IEDC Office Administrator at email@example.com or 218-326-9411 ext. 20. Day-of registration is welcome.
