On a cold blustery Feb. 29, the Blackberry Winterfest was held, with more than 200 people attending. The event is sponsored by the North Star Draft Horse Association, and the North Central Farm & Antique Association and run by more than 50 volunteers.
The Greenway Snowmobile Club held a Vintage Snowmobile 15 ride from the Blackberry Snowmobile Shelter and back, with over 50 vintage snowmobiles participating.
Horse drawn sleigh rides were available, along with food, and children’s games. About noon, the sun came out, bring warming weather and all three horse drawn sleigh rides were busy. Proceeds from the event are given to the various participating organizations.
“We do this for the community to break the monotony of winter, having people get together and have fun,” said Ed Nelson, secretary with the Draft Horse Association, and board member with Farm and Antique Association.
