Bergren Family Chiropractic held its 12th Annual Children’s Christmas at the Balsam Community Center Dec. 8 with about 400 persons attending and 161 children visiting Santa Claus. There were cookies and punch for all, and donated prizes given away to children on a free drawing. Also this year were horse drawn sleigh rides around the Balsam Community Park.

Lindsey Brandstrom took photographs of each child, as Angela Bergren recorded their name and email address so each child could receive as emailed photograph.

And again Margret Cone from Lawrence Lake Township gave each child who visited Santa a free winter hat. Cone who gave away 161 hats says she makes them at home on a 40 year old automatic sewing machine.

When asked why he does this every year for free, Doctor Bergren said, “When I was a child growing up in Balsam, I had cancer and the community was there for me, and now I do it to give back to the community, along with brightening their Christmas. I wish to thank all the children and adults who attended, and the family members, and volunteers, along with the donators that made this another successful event.”
