On Monday, May 18, the suspect wanted in connection to the May 8, shooting of a Grand Rapids woman was arrested at 9:50 p.m. on Highway 73 just south of Floodwood, Minn.
The suspect, Charles Anthony Olsen, 36, was a passenger in a motor vehicle which was stopped by St. Louis County deputies and the Floodwood Police Department. Olsen was taken into custody and transported to the Itasca County jail where he is currently being held pending formal charges from the Itasca County Attorney's Office. Also assisting was the Itasca County Sheriff's Office.
Olsen was wanted following an investigation by the Grand Rapids Police Department of the shooting of a 22-year-old Grand Rapids woman. On May 8, at 6:24 p.m., officers responded to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital on a report of a woman being dropped off with a gunshot wound to her chest. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and has since been released from the hospital.
The incident occurred in the 400 block of Itasca Street in Grand Rapids.
