Public comments sought for pedestrian bridge

Get Fit Itasca received an AARP Community Challenge grant this summer to enhance the new pedestrian bridge and trails along the Mississippi River. Working with the City of Grand Rapids, a new map kiosk, canoe sculpture, and two benches will be installed by the bridge. In addition, Get Fit Itasca is gathering community input for thoughts, comments, and ideas on how else they could make the trails more non-motorized transportation friendly and inviting. Also working closely with SHIP and ARDC, they’ve been meeting with various city officials, organizations, and businesses to gather input.

On Sept. 10, from 3-4 p.m. and 5-6 p.m., the community is invited to attend public forums at the Grand Rapids Area Library to learn more about the project and give further input.

If this time or day is not ideal, the public can fill out an online survey found at www.getfititasca.org, or contact Anna Johnson at anna@getfititasca.org
