On Wednesday, July 18, officers of the Grand Rapids Police Department developed information that a 20-year-old Grand Rapids man was transporting a large quantity of marijuana from St. Louis County into Itasca County. Officers intercepted the man’s pickup truck, stopping it south of town on Highway 169. A search of the vehicle, with the help of an Itasca County Sheriff’s Department K-9, resulted in locating more a pound of marijuana hidden in the bed of the man’s pickup truck. He was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and jailed in the Itasca County Jail. He is being held pending charging review by the Itasca County Attorney’s Office.

The following day, Thursday, July 19, the department received information that a 42-year-old Grand Rapids woman was in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine. Officers located her at a local business. A search resulted in finding 13.3 grams of methamphetamines, multiple hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia. She was also jailed in the Itasca County Jail and awaits charging review by the Itasca County Attorney’s office for Possession with Intent to Sell. The woman has an extensive history involving illicit drugs.

The names of both individuals were not provided at the time of this release.
