Significant moves have recently been made within Northrock Development Company as the board of directors has accepted Matt Lehtinen’s resignation and acquired all of his outstanding shares of stock. Lehtinen is the co-founder of the company with former City Council member Ed Zabinski.
With this move, Bill Martinetto, General Manager of Rapids Brewing Company, has been elected to the Northrock Development Board of Directors by the result of a unanimous vote. Previously, Todd Roth was elected chief executive officer and moving forward, Zabinski will retain his position as chief financial officer and secretary/treasurer.
What does this mean for Grand Rapids?
Northrock Development is the majority partner of Rapids Brewing Company: an 11,000 bbl/year brewery coming to a location in the downtown area. Rapids Brewing has retained Bev-Craft, LLC of Duluth to help design the brewery options and branding. Bev-Craft is a team of brewing experts that incubates and consults breweries from idea to thriving business with development assistance, brewhouse planning, recipe formulation, ingredient selection, brand creation, and sales planning.
Rapids Brewing is also looking to Wagner Zaun of Duluth to design the physical layout of the buildings and Hawk Construction of Grand Rapids will act as construction managers. Construction start dates have yet to be announced due to the shift in company management
