Grand Rapids Area Earth Circle will celebrate the holiday season and six years of climate activism at their monthly meeting on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Grand Rapids Area Library meeting room. Over the years the grassroots environmental group has studied and raised awareness of many issues that affect our Earth, including plastic pollution, pollinator loss, sulfide mining, fossil fuels and climate change. Their Saturday meeting will feature pizza, cake and a movie.

The movie, Journey of the Universe is an Emmy Award winning documentary which explores “cosmic and planetary evolution as a profound process of creativity, connection and interdependence.” It features amazing photography and an elegant telling of this epic story, from the origins of life to our present challenges.

There is no charge for this event but a free will offering will be taken to purchase tree seedlings and garden seeds through Heifer International to help people in areas suffering from deforestation and depleted soil.
