They say that impersonation is the highest form of flattery. That being the case, then if nothing else, Dark Star Orchestra should receive extremely high marks for flattery with their contribution to the music world as a Grateful Dead tribute band. This critically-acclaimed act will be performing at the Reif Center on Oct. 20.

During their 13 years of touring, they've achieved recognition for their act from numerous places, such as Rolling Stone magazine which said they're "quite possibly the most talented and accomplished tribute band out there," from former Grateful Dead sound engineer Dan Healy who said "there were moments where I can close my eyes and go back 30 years and have it be every bit as rewarding and satisfying. Dark Star is an amazingly legitimate representation of the Dead," and from USA Today who aptly noted that they were "channeling the Dead."
