Elmer J. Butterfield, 93, of Shell Lake, Wis., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake, Wis.
He was born May 25, 1919 in Shovel Lake, Minn., to Jesse and Edith (Sharbonda) Butterfield. He was married in Hayward, Wis., on Jan. 10, 1957 to Lillian Jones. They bought the farm in the Township of Barronett in 1958 and farmed until 1978. He continued farming beef for another 20 years. Elmer also worked for 7 years for Osmos Power Company in Illinois. He enjoyed the yearly trip to his hometown of Shovel Lake, Minn.
Elmer was preceded in death by one grandson, Bo; one daughter-in-law, Linda; siblings, Paul, Albert, Jim, Larry, Laura Mott, Gladys Minnick, Helen Bevin, Jeannette Butterfield and Violet Gooch.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Shell Lake, Wis.; two sons, Robert (Peaches) Butterfield of Centuria, Wis., and Jesse Butterfield of Shell Lake, Wis.; one daughter, Darlene (Kenny) Stinehart of Spooner, Wis.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora Wickware of Stone Lake, Wis.; and two brothers, Chester (Jeanette) Butterfield of Wascott, Wis., and Harold “Stanley” (Grace) Butterfield of Spooner, Wis.
