The Grand Rapids area Peace Circle and Veterans for Peace will join with people around the world in a candlelight vigil from 4 until 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10 (International Human Rights Day) in front of the local DFL Headquarters, 809 NE 4th Street in Grand Rapids.

The Afghan Youth Peace Volunteers, a group of young people in Afghanistan who live with the reality of war and deprivation but continue to work tirelessly for peace, are appealing to people around the world to join with them in a call for an end to the war in Afghanistan. They are hoping that two million candles can be lit around the world to symbolize the collective grief for the two million victims of the wars in Afghanistan and a determination to work together for peace and a life without war.
