The Headwaters Shrine Club of Bemidji will sponsor a screening clinic for children who might be in need of orthopedic services Friday, Sept. 16, at the Sanford Bemidji Orthopedic Clinic, 3807 Greenleaf Avenue NW, Bemidji, just across the street from North Country Hospital. The clinic will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Minneapolis Shrine Hospital Medical personnel will review infirmities, cleft palate, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, missing limbs, etc. of all prospective patients who attend the clinic. No medical procedures are performed at the clinic, it is for examination only.

For further information and to make an appointment for the free clinic, contact Robert Melchior, 615 South Movil Lake Road NE, Bemidji, MN, 56601 or call at 218-751-1399.

At the Bemidji Clinic last year, there were 16 children who were immediately referred to the Minneapolis Hospital and several others who will be seen again as they grow a bit and their medical conditions become more definitive.

Shriners Hospitals for Children - Twin Cities provides comprehensive medical, surgical and rehabilitative care for children with orthopedic conditions. Children up to age 18 are eligible for care at Shriners Hospitals for Children if there is a reasonable possibility they can benefit from the specialized services available. Acceptance is based solely on a child's medical needs regardless of their ability to pay.
