Affinity Plus volunteers feed the hungry through Community Café

This week, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union began a new ongoing partnership with the Community Café in Grand Rapids, a local non-profit dedicated to building stronger communities by reducing hunger. Every Tuesday and Thursday night the Café provides free, healthy meals to those who may be going through any sort of hardship.

Customer Appreciation Day at the Herald Review

More than 350 people stopped by the Herald-Review office early Friday afternoon for Customer Appreciation Day, held in conjunction with Krazy Days. Visitors were treated to hotdogs, chips and pop, had the chance to visit with Herald-Review staff as well as learning about the paper’s Rewards Program. Giveaways included can koozies and the new Girlfriends magazine, an Adams Publishing Group publication. “Another tremendous success,” said Herald-Review Publisher and General Manager Mark Roy. “The weather was beautiful, and we thank everyone for the support, we appreciate them stopping by.” Visitors were also able to enter a drawing for four gift cards to local businesses. The winners of the gift cards will be announced in Wednesday’s Herald-Review.

DEED awarded $5.75 million grant to expand job training initiative

The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) was awarded a $5.75 million grant by the U.S. Department of Labor to help fund job training in high-growth sectors, including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care, information technology and transportation.

Starting with the July 11 racing program, the winner of the late model main event will be rewarded with Amsoil Synthetic’s product valued at approximately $100. This bonus will continue for the remainder of the regular racing season.
